Does anyone know if you could swap a injection pump from a 4500 to a 2910? The only thing different seems like the return line (on a 4500, its on the side, while its on the top on a 2910). Or is it possible to swap the top covers on the injection pump from a 4500 to 2910 injection pump?

The pump will fit, but the 2910 has a smaller displacement engine (175 ci vs. 201 ci) and less hp (36 vs. 53 tested PTO hp), so the pump from a 4500 would be delivering almost 50% more fuel than the engine in the 2910 wants. I'm not an expert on diesel injection pumps, but the pump would probably have to be modified, either via adjustments or via replacement of parts to lower the amount of fuel being delivered.

Full load fuel setting is higher on the 4500/201 engine pump, top cover spring code setting may not be the same either.

It will work, but you might not like how well it runs. Same pump, different settings, for different engine. Al
