I might be interested in looking at a 60 but wondering if they only have road speed reverse like an A or if they fixed it.

Due to how the transmissions are laid out, most if not all 2 cylinder transmissions are pretty fast in reverse. A/B/G and their descendants all are fast in reverse.

The 620 was the first in the series to have a slow reverse .

I have a 50, a 620 and a 630 and I wish that they all had a slower reverse. Maybe there was an optional ''slow reverse'', but the previous owners of my tractors didn't spring for the option.

60/620/630 transmission range gears are all the same. The reduction gears from the clutch to the transmission are 1 tooth slower on a 20/30 series from a 60, or about 4%. At rated engine speed, both are 3MPH, but the 20/30 series tractors run higher rated RPM.

People have asked on here for years how to slow reverse down by changing gears, etc. There is no good way to do it because reverse is accomplished by meshing the 1/3 sliding gear directly with the differential. So, to make reverse slower, you have to make the sliding gear smaller and the driven gear (in this case the differential gear) larger. So you do that, you just slowed 1/3rd gear by changing the sliding gear, and then you slowed EVERYTHING when you made the differential gear larger. I'm fairly confident that it wasn't Deere engineer's first choice to make reverse that fast, but the way that transmission is made it's kinda how it has to be because there isn't any good way around it.

Years ago when I worked for the Deee dealer we using a 60 with a loader for a yard tractor and it was fast we put cotton picker gears in it,,,it mixed the gears up dramatically,,,gave us 3 or 4 reverse gears
