inlet fitting on '48 Ford 8N carb

My "48 8N Ford tractor was running powerless the past few weeks. I cleaned the carb once and it still ran poorly. Happened again this weekend so I took the carb apart again and it was 90% clean. Next step was to check the fuel line from tank to carb. Found it to be partially plugged. Upon reinstalling the fuel line to carb it leaks. There is a factory steel fuel line and brass fitting on the carb. Question is what kind of brass fitting is on the carb? The only numbers on the carb brass tag is 9 49. Any and all info will be appreciated.

Inlet side of carb inlet fitting/screen is 1/4'' ''inverted flare'', outlet side is 1/8'' male pipe thread.

Good luck finding one there. They sell em on this site but the screens are a lot shorter than the
originals. You might find one at TSC.

When you first suspect you have fuel issue, perform the Fuel Flow Test with a cold engine. Remove drain plug, open valve, flow should be steady at 1 pint in 2 minutes.
If test fails, begin the usual possible root cause problem solving methods. The 3 filters are the first and easiest to check. The Fuel Inlet Brass Elbow is often
neglected. It has a built-in mesh filter attached. The brass elbow has a NPT male fitting that inserts into the carb body and the female port is a special 7/16-24 UNS
which the fuel line fitting inserts into. 90% clean doesn't mean anything to me. Is the Float level set at 9/32? Did you replace the needle valve and seat? So
cleaning can mean a hundred things. Do you have the OEM Marvel-Schebler carb or a cheaply made clone? If carb passes fuel test, leave it alone and move on. Electrical?
6V or 12V? A plugged fuel flow issue can be attributed to one or more issues, a plugged tank vent often a biggie. M/S ID tag was at first cast in the bottom half on
the boss as shown. Later, 48, revamped to riveted brass date code ID tag with the TSX model number as shown. The date stamp only defines when the unit was built at the
Borg-Warner plant. Aftermarket carbs do not have this ID tag. ALL TISCO part kits are good now for all N Series carbs.

Thanks for all of the replies. Picked up a "street elbow" at NAPA. It stopped the leaking issue. After cleaning the fuel line and carb the second time I believe the OEM fuel line was the issue. When the fuel line it bent to go over the engine it is like an upward bow. My thinking is that crude collected on the tank side and was enough to cause fuel flow issues. Once cleaned it works fine. The only filter missing is the one on the street elbow. Thanks again.

I would get the correct fitting with the screen on it as soon as possible. You can order one from TSC. I always keep a spare on hand. Believe it or not even my MF202 uses the same filtered fitting on the carb.

You can get one here or they come in carb kits.

I can't verify that the ones here have smaller screens. I'm doing a carb on my TO-20 fergy and about the same carb, carb kit has correct filter/fitting.

Put a flare fitting into the inlet elbow when you remove/tighten it. Otherwise the wrench can squish the brass fitting where the flare threads in (or be very careful)
