I knew him only through this community and never met him in person. I frequently read his posts and learned a lot from his experience. I believe many, many more here knew him and benefited from him. He was a veteran and that carries a lot of significance for me.
Please add your thoughts. |

I only knew him through here as well, but he helped me and always answered any question I had about generators. Always willing to help anyone he could. He is greatly missed here and other antique engine forums as well. |

Let us pray that he has found peace, he did not find that in his earthly life. |

The following was posted by his nephew on Smokestak.........
Billy was born 7/30/50 .. spent his early years near grapevine tx, when there were more rabbits than people, at 18 he joined the navy in 68-69 as an engineer.. he sailed through the sea of Gibraltar .. visited Malta and Crete in the Mediterranean during the crisis of Lebanon , was stationed in Vietnam in 72 off the tonkin gulf and near hanoi, after his tour he came back and married my aunt in 73-74..living in Dallas a majority of his life he went on to serve in the national guard for almost 20 years as a motor pool sergeant and working with Onan Cummings as a generator mechanic.
Billy was a man of few words but much heart, he would help people in need and not want much thanks for it, because it was the right thing to do.
they're aren't much men like this anymore and breaks my heart to see one of the good ones go. |
