The piston bores in either sleeve are the same, the difference is in the outside diameter.

Sleeves that are 0.080'' smaller in diameter than what came out will be an awfully loose fit in the block, don't you think?

Richard,

This is the Site Comments forum for discussion of features and issues of the forums and other site applications. It's highly unlikely anyone will answer your question in this forum.

To ask this question, go back to the forum list and select Ford 9N,2N,8N and post the question again.

Thanks
Chris

Hello Richard welcome to YT! I will help you out with a
link that will take you directly to the 9N, 2N and 8N
topic section. I am not a Ford guy but a quick look at
the parts offered by YT I see they offer what they call a
thick wall and thin wall sleeve sets. So, what you are
suggesting to install 0.040 inch thick will just slightly
increase the cubic inch displacement of the motor. So
all in all it will work fine and have slightly more power.
You do need to have the correct larger diameter
pistons to fit the thin wall sleeves. Good luck!

but what you also have is a block that takes the larger OD sleeves.

you could try cementing the sleeves in place. i think loctite makes a product for it. i have no idea how well it would work in this application. i don't remember hearing from anyone who has done this. maybe a couple of wraps of duct tape would work Wink

i'm curious about why you want to make the change.

As Chris said, this needs to be moved to the Ford forum.
Maybe he can move it?

Rich,

No, unfortunately I can't. Same old story, as long as we have classic view, no features can be used of newer forum software. Still waiting on when the new servers will be available to start testing the new forum software.
