Possible Valve Tick

So I recently cleaned up my 1951 Super C in preparation for seeding and also because it just needed to be cleaned. I cleaned the valve train off, torqued it down to 35 ft/lbs, and called it good. Now that the tractor is fully together I noticed some clicking from the motor. I shut it off in worry that it's valve tick or something like that but I think he just clicks because he's old. Idk what do yall think?

Did you set the at rest valve clearance between the rocker arm and the valve tip? It is a periodic maintenance item, should be 0.014 inches. For a novice the best way to do it is to watch the valves of one cylinder while turning the engine. When one is fully open adjust the other, then vise-versa for the other one. Pull all the spark plugs and the engine should turn easily with the fan. You never contacted me about the information I have available for you, email me. Not so, they need an adjustment as they are talking to you. Its called preventative maintenance and can save doing a head job , if one is too tight it will burn the valve. Too loose and you get valve steam and rocker wear. Kinda amasses me people ignore an important periodic thing. It is usually done with a major tune up and part of it.

Also about the torque specs for the valve train. I just torqued it to 35 ft/lbs. It seems fine. I don't think the valve trains ever been adjusted. Idk when I get back later this afternoon I'll take the valve cover off and adjust him. Like I've said before I've never had an issue with it. And the valve tick sound I thought I heard was just engine noise, cam moving pushrods and valve train opening. The tolerances of the pushrod to the rocker arms was tight! When he revs up it lags and skips. Thinking it's either the condenser or the points. Because I replaced the distributor cap, spark plugs and spark plug wires, and we put the original coil on with a resistor because the eddleshock we bought for it made the damn thing get p!ssy. Now I'm worried the coil might be on the fritz with the rest of the electrical crud. But let's hope it's just the points or condenser because the distributor cap and the rotor were all corroded.
