I am getting ready to buy 3 Roper garden tractors 2ss-16 and one gt-16. All are running, have mower decks that work,3 point lift hitch, high low range, deck are in good shape, they need some TLC, but very little. Lots of extra parts. I and buying them from a 73 year old collector who has 5 and is selling these 3.Do you think I am getting a good deal for $950 or nuts doing this? I only wanted one but it sounded ok to me. |

Those are pretty good garden tractors, in running condition at $316 each you really can't go wrong. |

we used a sears here for a long time that the 14 hp. was replaced with a 6hp and it would do anything we put it up against. We have a rollover blade, plow, harrow, and many days of dragging a frame to smooth the yard and pulling trees and such. That thing would either pull it or bury the tires trying. |

Roy ---
You know......I have said for years lawn and garden tractors dont need big HP engines......just a lot of torque.....
Best lawn tractor I ever had was a cub cadet 12HP 126 1969 model with 48in. deck.....built using cast iron and farmall cub gears.....I ran it 24 years(2 engine overhals,no bearings) mowing my 2 ac. yard 2 ac.church yard and some time they barrowed it to mow a small ball field (there sears was not up to the task, same age as the cadet)
It was a sad day back around 1985 MTD bought Cub Cadet.....cheepend them .....same as the rest of the junk thay put on the market.....you got to spend over $8,000 to get a good tractor today....I guess "O" round is the way to go today.........Don |

this one didn't have the mower under it I doubt it would have run all the blades. but for pulling you had a good gear selection so the 6hp was enough to do most anything |
