case 1190 fuel problems

after 15-20 minutes of running(bushhogging,bladeing,or just driving)the engine shuts down just like pulling fuel shut off.it takes some playing with to restart engine(open bleeders an manually pump fuel or pull start)and it will run for a bit then shut down.i have changed fuel filters and no change.i have no fuel comong through return lines and i have checked for stoppage in lines but they are clear.tractor runs good while running except i think its burning a little rich.i'm stumped.

I would make sure that the transfer pump is working.Ours had a mechanical problem that kept it from working off of the engine but would still pump by hand with the priming lever.
There are many others on this forum with more knowledge than I and they may have other suggestions. Nick

is the cap/vent open, and we had a 1030 do this many years ago while on demo finally found that a bug had gotten in the tank( from the fuel hose I guess), darn thing would float untill you ran it for 10-15 minites then would be pulled down to the outlet plug it then after we bleed, changed filters, she would fire up run a while then it wouls start all over again drove us crazy for a few hours just a thought cnt

Diesels don't run rich.

Does your tractor have a sediment bowl on the lift pump? Water in it? Did you clean it? originally they did, some aftermarket pumps eliminate the glass.

Also, I'd look at the lines, use compressed air to blow them out.

Sludge setting on the bottom of the tank can be an issue too, especially if there is water in the tank?

Many times a bad lift pump will dump fuel into the crankcase, is your oil overfull?

thanks for all the repies.i will do some more checks.when i said running a little rich i was meaning the fumes will burn your eyes and it wasnt doing that before these problems started.
