can park be repaired through the pto acess hole???without splitting the tractor???linkage in the cab works correctly..with the lever linkage disconnected and a channel locks on the lever going into the trans housing i can hear the movement inside....thank you for your reply..

It's easy to repair once the rear housing is removed, but the housing has to come off. Actually there is little repair to it, usually the teeth get wore of the pawl & it needs to be replaced. Not sure exactly what you are describing as to what the problem is. Are you sure of the adjustment?

The one on my 2090 did that. The pin in the gear stop lever sheared off if I remember right. I did get it fixed through the hole, but it was kinda tight. 2390 might be different, but I would pull the cover and find the problem for sure before I started pulling other stuff apart.

If this was 10 years ago i could have alot more info, but here is some things i remember (I think)

You can get to it after you take the rear PTO housing off. Use long studs in place of the bolts to make removal / assembly easier. It is heavy. Then if you have long small arms you can get to it around the carrier assembly. There are 3 different (I think) roller diameters availble, you need to do some measuring and math to get the right one and to get it adjusted correctly. I think i had the large one and just machined it down to where i needed it. While you are in there, inspect & clean the suction screen for the charge pump for potential wear on gears, brgs, and clutch packs.

Most importantly- make sure the park and gear shifter cables are free and adjusted correctly. I know because when i got mine it wasnt and a i put it in gear while it was still in park and heard the pawl break. It wasnt a good feeeling.

Mine was a open ROPs equiped one that was kinda rough. I spen a whole winter rebuilding my rear end and fixing up the tractor. I have alot of pride in mine and love love using it.

John is correct you go through the back, the cam roller was actualy broke on the last one i did the 2090 is a completely different cat, i'll be doing one in a couple weeks.i'm not sure how good the IT manual shows it i have a parts cd that shows a good breakdown.
