Is it ok to run an anti-drain back filter on these tractors or should always run a bypass filter |

Did somebody convert the oil filter to a spin on? |

All the filters for this engine including the spin on filters are partial flow filters. The spin on has a restrictor orifice you can see just below the the threaded portion of the filter. Peronally, I would not use any filter with an anti drainback valve for this application. Having said that I don" think it wouldn"t harm anything as long as the check valve functioned as intended and the filter and the total pressure drop across the filter was such that the bypass ratio the same. |

Thanks Jerry, I was not sure about this one and wanted to be sure. The fram filter is a pb50 that is recommmended for the spin on adapter kit. There is a plate with a couple of holes to allow oil in, so it must definnatly be a bypass filter and I think that's what I will use. There may not be enough pressure for an anti back flow filter based on what you have said and I dont want to take any chances.
I wish there was a way to completely filter all the oil on a complete trip through the engine, but I guess that is not possible. |

yeah, unfortunately, the system is designed for a partial flow filter. NAPA Gold 1050 or Wix 51050 are also the correct filters for this application. |
