Hello again,

I looked at the 901 last weekend and the rear tires are just over 6' out to out. I am considering a 6' or 7' 3- point brush cutter for some pasture work and a path through the woods. I have some steeper hills in the woods and will need to add weights to the front, but was just wanting input on the width. If I can swing it, I hope to find a good used Rhino cutter. A local tractor dealer is trying to trade for a 6' Massey cutter that is 3 to 4 years old and in good shape. Weighs around 850# and has a 60 hp gear box. Likely rated for 1" dia. max cut. If he gets it he expects to ask around a $1000. I'm trying to visit an implement dealer in Bethany, MO this weekend who has dealt with the Servis/Rhino line since the mid 50's. He quoted what seemed to be very good prices so I look forward to visiting with him.

Well lets see your just north of seblbeville MO. Right?? Well any how I would stick with a 6 footer as it will not over work a 900/901 series and any thing bigger will work but could be a little hard on it if you got it to thick stuff. Also depends on which of the 900/901 series you are looking at. If its say a 940/941 and doesn't have live PTO it makes it tough to work with because of the non live PTO

Hello Old,

I appreciate your insight on the board and have enjoyed your website once or twice. I'm actually in St. Joseph, MO currently, but moving about 30 minutes north in a month or two, little piece of land near Barnard. I'm working on a 971 NF that hasn't been used much in the last 25 years, so we'll see how it goes.

Chris:

I agree with Old. Stick with a 6 footer for your 901. It should have enough power for just about anything and enough weight without front weights if it has a wide front. The 9xx series tractors are heavier and have a longer wheelbase than the utilities.

A 7 footer is just too big and too heavy. These have too much weight too far back.
