That little handle that's mounted directly to the side of your Hydraulic Lift Cover is called the Handle - Hydraulic Lift Drawbar Control. It is used to select either, Position Control (up/horizontal position) or Draft Control (down/vertical position). Most uses will be best served while in Position Control, but if you're plowing you would want Draft Control. Do a search on this site for more information on the above. Also, owner's manuals are reasonably priced and explain the functionality of the various features of your tractor.

Shane:

How did you make out with the remote valve that you bought for your 640?

Dean,
Sorry I didn"t respond yesterday. Busy day at the office. The remote valve is the same as when I received it from you. All my time (tractor time that is) has been spent working on a 703 Loader. Just finished planting at my place too, so I"ve been busy. It might be sacrilege, but I used a JD71 planter behind the 640 for some of my planting. I think I"ll just buy the handle from NH, and get it in-service here soon. I"ll post some pictures, once completed.

Thanks for your help and take care,
Shane
