Has anyone out there repowered a 4890 with something else than scandia motor? Mine has a bad motor but good chassis. |

I'd seriously look at a Mack Truck engine. A lot of similarities. |

Anything is possible if you throw enough time and $$ at it. Is the Scania motor done, or is it rebuildable? Most of my experience with Sciana was with European semi tractors. They were generally consider to be some of best trucks, and there was a lot of export demand shipping old trucks to third world countries. I'd guess engine kits should be available but probably costly? Scania truck models 110 thru 114 and 140 thru 144 I think used V8's. Probably be nice to put a Cummins in if you can. |

I would Try 8-71 or 8-92 Detroit /Easy to find & have low power till Running up to speed =Easyer on the power shift/or try 12.7 Detroit |

I may be 100%wrong,but there was a company or persons(5-10yrs ago) advertising Cummins repowers for Case 4 wheel drives.May have been Kinze,but don't think so. |
