M Power Questions

If an M cam is listed as the same part as a 450 and the stroke is the same what is the point of changing either one for more power? I understand about bigger valves and better exhaust and air flow. I'd rather not spend the money for a stroked crank. What choice in high dome pistons works best for ya'll who really know what you are doing? If I can approach 450 power in my M and "mostly" keep stock parts, is there a better combination? Rookie questions from an old gunny in strange territory.

depends what end result is desired. If you need 55 or 60 hp I would look at Fire Crater pistons, cam, good head with some flow work ect., If you are wanting 80 or 90 hp then the equasion gets alot more complicated!

Get a400or 450 gas head and leave AS IS except agood valve job.Get the manifold and carb to go with it.Put in the highest compression 4 inch piston you can find or better yet have some made by Arias or somebody can be done in fra me and avoid boring or hassle of no sleeves.Use good gas.12volts and ahot coil.present cam will work.This will stay with a STOCK 450.Maybe drill the main jet a little only If needed.More hp eqals $$$$ and a stroke.
