Case 730 gas tractors

These 2 1965 730 CK Dual Range Case tractors are located near me. They are identical 741's except that the one on the left has spin out rear wheels. Both have 3 pt and dual remotes and for the most part are complete. Both front ends are aftermarket but they are different. The front end on the left is a Schwartz and I could not find any id on the other one. They both ran when parked but the one on the left was burning some oil and the clutch would slip under heavy load. The have been sitting for at least 12 years and probably closer to 20. I suspect both have stuck engines. The one on the left has a totally mangled exhaust manifold. Sheet metal is really in good condition and dent free. The one on the right has stand up rubber but the one on the left has bald tires and one has an active chloride leak.

Big question - what are they worth. I am trying to buy them and they only come as a pair.

i am inestered in 1 of thoes tractors ,i have an 830 with a good engine but a bad tranny. would be an easyer. fix, the sheet metal is trash also , a barn fell on it in a storm. i saved it from the scrap yard. call me at 859 229 1409. if you would sell one tom chesnut. thanks.

Western Wisconsin - If I get them I probably owe Eric the rear end of one them so I probably could not sell a complete tractor - I do not know if he also needs the transmission. Sheet metal would be a possibility. I am only interested in one but it would probably take parts from both to achieve that.

Guys I know some of you need parts but I see 2 repairable and restorable tractors here.

Both are 8speed comfort Kings with square fenders and 3PT. Very desirable!

Last I looked they don’t make tractors like this anymore. I would rather have one of these tractor restored than a new one

The one with the chloride leak in the tire maybe the worst but its very restorable.

I hope someone buys them soon and restores them both

Just my opinion so I hope I don’t ruffle too many feathers.

I would offer a $1000 for the pair and then work my way up. I wouldn’t go over $2000 unless they could start and run

Gun - That is where my sentiments lay but the harsh reality is that there are more tractors needing economical parts than there are economical parts. I have never restored a tractor but I have done old cars and old motorcycles and it is real easy to get more into them than they will bring if you are not careful.

When I was a kid in the 5o's and early 6o's this or an 830 was my dream tractor. Grandpa (mother's dad) had an 800 that I thought was the best tractor in the world. My dad was a Case guy but he never graduated from the VAC, DC, SC school but this did not stop me from hoping and dreaming. He never had to as he had a bunch of kids and small old Case tractors were plentiful, reliable and cheap.

I have been over to his twice to look them over. The first time I was there his price was $2000 for the pair. Which is more than I think I would spend. I guess I would like to get them for $1000 but I am sure that is not going to happen.

Another angle is to get more stuff thrown in. There are a pair of 800 rear wheel centers and rims plus an old Case garden tractor I could try and work into the deal.

We'll just have to see.

Well I hate to say this but I think if you truly want them then you need to be in the $1300 (to maybe $1400 which would be my absolute max) or so range for both. His price of $2k for both is too high though.

Each tractor weighs right at 7000 lbs empty. Let's say 6500 lbs minus tires in steel. Figure at a conservative $200 a ton then each tractor is easily worth $650 in scrap iron at a minimum.

Granted it is easy to put more in an old tractor than you could ever sell it for but that does not mean the current owner should sell them dirt cheap either especially when they worth $1300 or so as they sit in an alternative an very easy for him to obtain scrap market.

I do see two tractors that could be brought back to life with time, effort, and some cash. At minimum there are also lots of good parts too. Would be a shame for them to get scrapped, but I would not blame the current owner if that is what he does if he can not obtain at least $1300 for them.

I had a 730 gas once ONCE.Couldn't cross the yard without stopping at the fuel tank for a visit.That being said it was a pleasure to drive.
