Just bought a WD45 with power steering yesterday. The hand clutch won"t release. Haven"t tore into it yet just asking what I might be looking for. Any info would be great. Thanks |

By not release, I assume you mean the tractor will move with the lever forward or backward? Is it a lot of moving, or will standing on the brakes stop it? You should feel a definite snap to the clutch when you move the lever. It's possible someone over shimmed it or just bolted it solid to keep it from slipping. Take the battery box off, the clutch is under the cover under the battery.

Yeah- what aaron said...you gotta get inside to see what is wrong. There are three sets of linkages inside that operate the clutch. I can"t imagine all could go bad at once. There are three discs in the WD45 (two in the WD). Maybe a collar or cast lugs broke, so linkage doesn"t connect? Collar has "ears" on it...maybe broke off? Pop the cover off....it"s under the batty box...do a visual. Service manual...I&T AC 11 has the details. |

Thanks I tore into it and it has a shim in it but was to tight loosened the bolts around it and it started to worked properly need to get shim kit and shim it. Mine is 1954 WD45 and it only has two discs in it and the AC 11 manual says the WD and the WD45 are similar. Does not say anything about the WD45 having three discs. |

If you can make it work, and navigate through it, AGCO parts on line can be instructive as far as differences, serial number breaks, etc.
AC made many running changes. In other words, changes didn't necessarily absolutely coincide with serial/model number breaks.
Maybe someone has altered your clutch. Who knows? There are lots of possibilities.
WD45 had enough more power, the three plate clutch was an important improvement. |

Found out the three disc clutch did not start until serial # 165036. My serial # is 162186 just a few tractors to early. |
