|
|
Came across a Speed Patrol (WD, I suspect, but I couldn"t get that close then)sitting in a lot that the owner is willing to sell - but doesn"t have a price in mind, so I get to go first.
Unfortunately, I usually do small tractors - Cub, B,C,Ns and such, so I need a bit of help.
The unit is rough all around, but all there, "cept the tires, which are in various stages of rot. The biggest issue is a fist-sized hole in the block that was once repaired, but the patch is now breaking away. Owner drove it like that to where it is, but it absolutely isn"t driving away.
What sort of value does such a find have? |

Average shape, running, operable, around here- I"ve seen them around $3500. Remember one the guy wanted well over 4 for......don"t think he got it. But tires, hole in the block?....no way to check out what else is wrong. Are controls original...handwheels, etc...or cobbled up with some hyd conversion? Sounds like a project unit. |

Definitely "project". Even if it ran - which I'm certain it won't - the block needs replacing. I have been checking scrap in the area and think it's value is somewhere around that.
But you guys would know better than I would. |

at two tons, scrap price is $400. I would think due to the "rare" tractor the value might be 4 x that much. You just dont find Speed Patrols setting in every barn in the country. |

A W Patrol weighs 6950 pounds if it is factory complete. I have seen them sell for anywhere from $1000 to almost $4000 depending on condition. Some have listed restored ones for as high as $8000 but I've never seen one bring anywhere near that. If all the grader parts are there and in decent shape the tractor parts are all WC so you can find them anywhere and usually fairly cheap. |

Thank you all for the input. At the moment, I cannot buy it, as my "shop" is no longer available. It will be difficult to find another at the price (free), but even so, when I get a spot to store it, I"ll be making the offer. Since the gentleman isn"t in a hurry, that works for me - for a little while. |
