Allis A

Have an allis Model A with 16.9x28's on it and they look ballooned out , can someone tell me what size should be on it

Would have come from the factory with 13.50x28 but the tire sizes have changed over the years so they would probably be at least 14.9's today.

There simply is not a proper current tire that goes on the rear due to changes in tires and rims requirements over the years. As the other poster said the original tire size was 13.50-28 which ROUGHLY translates somewhere between a 14.9 and 16.9 tire of today. But there is a huge difference, the original 13.50 tire was designed to go on a 8" wide rims todays 16.9 is designed to go on a much wider rim thus they are crowned up when mounted. If you want the tractor to look right Your choices are to find a good set of 13.50 tires which isnt likely or to widen the rims so you can use either 16.9 -28 or larger. The later As came out on 14.50-28s which equals todays 18.4-28. The picture included is my A on the later 14.50-28 size rears.

Nice tractor I have never seen one in person. Was it Allis Chalmers equal to the Mc Cormick Deering W40?

This tractor is at local farm museum, and at one time had 16.9x28 , what looks like old road grader tires, put on it. I don't think widening the rims is an option. Just would like to put the right ag tire on it. I'll have to measure the rims that's on it and go fro there I guess. Nice looking tractor

M.E Miller had tires of that period of time but only go to a 10-28 in 28" rim. You could also try Nebraska Tire they claim to have some antique rear tires.
