Hello guys and gals, so I recently aquired a 1939 D3 and the pup motor needed new crank bearings. I am looking for a service manual or a website to download one from. Also looking for someone who has parts and information.
Model number is posted in the picture.
Thanks everyone for your help!

Caterpillar D4 Tractor Parts Manual Book Catalog 1939 7J1 on up is available on E-bay for $39.99 along with several other D4 books from that era. Also the ACMOC group ( Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club ) is a good source for information. As far as parts believe it or not some parts are still available from Caterpillar . |

Ok, must have read something wrong. The ACMOC s/n reference book says 7J1-1757 as 1939 production. My Cat Performance Handbook says 7J1-1754 as 1939 production. |

The parts manual is just a part number listing correct? Quite different from a service manual. |

I have found some service manuals for a 7G and a 7U. What's the difference between that model and the 7J that I have? |

That 7G is a typo, should read 7J and is the same 4-1/4" bore engine in the 4G, 7J, 2T and 5T.
The 6U/7U is a different 4-1/2" bore engine |
