Hi I have a similar problem, no tractor SN plate or date stamp to be found anywhere!
However I do have an engine SN number 'S10066E' can anyone help me find a date for this engine?
Any help much appreciated

If you supply the numbers as per picture, someone shall tell you the year Diff. was manufactured:

From that serial number, it is likely built in 1947. Get the date code that John Deere asked for on the transmission, right side. Also there is an engine date code behind the generator.

Thanks Bob, unfortunately I've looked there and can't see anything, I'd add a picture but I'm new to this and not worked out how yet

No luck with date code on transmission, there's
nothing there. I've not looked behind the generator
thought so I'll give that a go!

Ok so I cant see anything on the right side (as you sit on the tractor) but i found this on the left, I know you cant read it, ill have to clean it up but from your picture its not the correct stamp anyway...

Had a look behind the generator this morning and there is nothing there either??? I'll try and get some better quality photos and upload them this afternoon now I've worked out how to do it

There are quite a few examples of castings that have no date in existence , the ' date man ' must have been away sick when they were cast .
Try looking carefully at the generator itself , Mr Lucas very kindly stamped them with their year of manufacture , the coils , if original were also stamped as were a [ very ] few radiators .

Yes that looks very much like my engine, im prety sure its a Standard motor co not a Continental

Thanks Charles, cant see anything on the generator and pretty sure coils are not originals, however there is something on a very rusty radiator plate! I might
need a forensic team to read it but im getting closer to finding out when this little fergie was made!!!

Ok heres some more photos, as you can see there's nothing on the right side of the tractor but there is a stamp on the left that might read... [3] [3] [47]
What do you think? am I just seeing things?
