No,not a fly cutter! A fly trap! This is how
I make fly traps. Just cut the top off of a
juice bottle and turn it upsidedown and fill
the gaps with caulk. I use sweet pickle
juice since I throw it away anyway, but
fruit juice probably works better for a
attractant. The flies go in but can't find
the way back out. Maybe one out of ten gets
back out, but then he wonders why he left
and goes back in again! I live in a ranching
area, so flys are a big problem. They do
catch honey bees too, but not many with
pickle juice.
The garden tractor is one I got for $400. It is a Sears 16 hp and has 4 speed transmission with a high low range.
That included a lift, back blade, mower,
disk and a cultivator. I bought a 13hp
Harbor Freight motor that had been dropped
at the store for a $100. I welded the case
but after I got it mounted, it started
leaking a little oil. So now I wait for a
rainy or snowy day and try again. Seems like
I have to try again a lot!

I use a 2 liter soda bottle. Cut the top off about 1/2" below where it flattens out & it will slip upside down into the bottom and seal well enough fruit flies can't get out between the two. Drill whatever size hole you need for what you are catching in the lid and put the attractant in before you put the top in the bottom. |

They are really easy to make like JM2 said.
Use a razor knife to cut the bottles. I
usually make a few at the same time, They
only take a few minutes to make. I leave the
lid off. It seams to catch more that way. I
have to set a couple of bricks on each side
to keep the wind from blowing them away. I
just made new ones today. The old ones had
about a inch and a quarter of flys in them.
How many do you think that is? A million? |

I thought that I was the only one that made these things. Great minds run in the same track! Ha |
