It you have slippage in the drive train, I would fix that be fore you paint everything too pretty. I like to use a tractor a while before it's painted to make sure all the leaks are taken care of, or worse yet a major problem. Then you have to mess everything up to fix it.

Thanks MMDEL, I understand that for sure.. this is definitely not a restauration. All I did is kind of shoot some Degreaser on it and give it a shot of paint I didn't tape anyting the paint is probably 35 years old, as far as running the tractor it probably needs a rebuild on the motor, but it cranks and runs pretty good and for all I'm going to use it I don't think I'll worry about it. It will get much better care now then it has in the last God I don't know how many years. There was no air filter on it at all, when I drain the engine oil I probably had a quart and a half of water and a quart and a half of oil. When I drain the rear end I got about 14 gallons of something that very well resembles baby crap.... I just took the hydraulic filter off and come to find out there is no filter in it just to can.
The tractor has no bucket on the front. And no PTO on the back. They took the clutches out or whatever there is on the internal side of the PTOI have to find out what this is..
We live on 2 Acres and for the most part I purchased it because I thought it was pretty cool and it would give me something to lift heavy stuff. If I can get the PTO working I will take it up to our 12 acres and do a little thinning...

That's too bad people treat equipment that way. Sounds like you are on the right track. Good luck. If you treat it right it will treat you right.
