Is there anyway to figure out when a McCormick Deering Threshing Machine was made by the Machine Number?

Yes. The suffix letter of the machine number indicates the year of manufacture. There's a link below to a page on the 'stack that has the info. I've noted that the "hand written into a IHC dealers parts book" info is from a Canadian dealer catalog & it states that the letters are prefix. All the US machines I've seen have ended with a letter for the date code. My machines are 5888-R ('25) & 7098-T (very late '26).

The prefix letters on this side of the border seem to correspond with the cylinder size i.e. C = 22" & D = 28"..... & are not found on the red & green machines (1925 - early '2Cool. At least I have not found one yet.

Hope this is of some help.
