I will be inheriting a couple of tractors in a few weeks, one of which is an older Massey. I haven't seen it in years but I do seem to recall it being a 50, and possibly a diesel? Would diesel be an option?? If so, are there any problems inherent to the 50s? I don't plan a resto on it, just a fixing whats broken and maintenance. I also recall my uncle telling me it would run hot after about an hour or so of running, but I suspect it has a leak he never fixed! The other is/was my uncles dads tractor, but its a N series Ford.

If the 50 is a diesel it would have 3.152 Perkins diesel engine, the overheating could be a thermostat, clogged radiator, or worse case scenario maybe the head gasket needs replacing, but the head gasket isn't that bad of a job.

IF I could ever get the photo function to work right for me, I will. It will be some time before I can get them. Have to go through all that mess with a will and such, and my uncle just passed Wednesday morning. He told me years ago to come get the Ford, and has told me multiple times since then to come get it, but its in a better place than I could keep it right now. I barely remember the Massey at all, but I do recall once he took me for a ride on it. I need 2 more tractors like I need a hole in the head right now, with all my health issues, but I am hoping the Massey will be easier to climb up on that my Farmall Ms.

The original selling dealer is still open, although they no longer sell Massey equipment. I spoke with them a little bit ago, and they said they will still work on them if I get it there, and he can still get parts for them, so Ill probably start with the basics and go from there. As I said, I suspect the problem is due to a lack of maintenance. I wont get to see it until Sunday, probably after my uncles fueral to find out what it is for sure.
