The other day I got a call from 'Microsoft" about my computer having trouble and they were there to help me. I told I was glad they called, my computer was really old and I was having trouble with it. He said that he could help me with my problem. I told him it was running DOS 3.1.2, I had a whopping 640 kb of ram with 3 mb hard drive. He told me to get it online and I told him I could not since no one offered dialup in my area, if he would give me his dialup number then I could use it for him to look at my computer. He ask me which versions of windows I was using and I told him again it was running DOS 3.1.2, not windows. this went back and forth for awhile, he continued to tell me to go online and I continued to tell him I needed his dialup number. He finally got a "better" tech on the line. she listened to me. finally when I ask her for their dialup phone number about 3 or 4 times she hung up on me. The computer information comes from back in the 80's when pc were running DOS, which is still used by going into the command prompt. I am waiting for them to call back. I am going to tell them that line 6 on my bidirectional data bus is being held low continously and I need help finding what is holding it low. That will be a wild trip!! by the way, the bidirectional data bus allows communication between the cpu and all the other components inside the computer.

I got a alleged Microsoft call tonight said my licence was about to expire. Not the first time I've gotten that. I don't believe Microsoft licences expire. I'm thinking scam.

My wife got the call. They said they could see that my computer had issues. She asked "you can see my computer?" they said yes and she said good because it was stolen 2 days before, if they could see can they tell me where it is at because the police are looking for it. She got a very short silence then the click. Done

We get that call a couple of times a month. It started out as fun a couple of years ago, me BSing the guy until he twigged. Then I started to ask "How do you know I have a problem", slowed things down a bit. I then went to "I don't have a computer" - nothing for 6 months. Now ANYTHING that starts as a recorded message = instant hang up. The bride inquired the other day if I'd had a message from her dentist - didn't know due to the recorded message thing. I told her to call them and insist that they use e-mail or a human. Getting grumpy in my formative years.

License is permanent for the version you have.
An unlicensed version of Windows 7 works fine
with some restrictions.
