I am trying to obtain information on what a tractor in the above described condition value is . No joke...just an honest request. I have no idea what it is worth in todays market. Who would know the value of Case tractors more than the people on this forum ?

Well I'll just throw this out there. Good running diesel 800 would bring $1500-2000. Overhaul adds $500 in sale price. Great tires I would add $750(even though they are worth more). Paint another 250 WFE another 250. So value would be $4500-5000 but honestly in today's market $3500-4000 would be the best you could expect for an 800 even that nice. Just my opinion

Jim,

I'm relatively new to this forum, but I'm not a /spring chicken/ so take that for what it's worth. However, one thing that not's mentioned is nostalgic value. I believe the recommendations thus far are quite close to what I would pay. However, I could add more $$ for /sentimental/ value IF that applies to you.

I guess sometimes for me, I'm willing to spend a few extra dollars because Case equipment is a bit harder to find (depends on locality) even though it's not in high demand, and my Dad owned Case equipment. That's what drives me to restore the tractors that I purchased recently. I didn't even drive these 8000's as a youngster, but my dad did for quite a few years over numerous Case models.

As such, I personally would be willing to add another 20% if these ideas apply in your situation. If it's all about the $$...then not so much.

The problem with a tractor like that is it's never worth what's been put into it. No doubt it's a very nice tractor and could do a lot of work yet, but what would you do with it? On a real farm it's too small for most things. The eagle hitch doesn't work well for many things like bush hogging without modifications. So it's value is not what some others would be. It's a shame, but it would likely sell for$2500 on most auctions.

I have a 430 with the same eagle hitch. I hook to a brush hog, pallet lifter. Boom pole, and Oliver mounted plow. No modifications were required. I don?t understand why you say it requires modifications?
There are many useful jobs for this tractor even on a modern day farm.

The eagle hitch on small frame tractors is better than the one on large frame tractors like this one. These have the third arm mount covering the PTO so no PTO equipment can be used without mods to either the equipment or tractor. And even if you modify the bracket on the tractor the third arm will be very short causing issues with some equipment. And of course the arms are solid, same as on the small frames, which can be either good or bad depending on what you are doing.

Look at the pic of the rear of the tractor. See where the PTO shaft is. Kinda hard to hook up the shaft without making modifications to mount the 3pt top link. Case engineers were not thinking on that set-up with the hog nose.

If I was trying to sell it I would start around $8000 and expect to come down some for a final selling price.

If I was buying then first I would justify a purpose for it, if I need something to run an auger or pull a rake around a $2500 tractor would serve the purpose.
Although this one is all nice and pretty I probably would not bid much more than $4000.

To a collector or someone that wants a pretty unit just like grandpa had their justification of value will likely be much higher.
