How difficult is it to replace the seal in the throttle shaft. Its leaking pretty good. Can I pull just the top cover off or do I need to remove the whole pump from the machine? Its a CAV pump. Thsnks

While it can be repaired on engine, my experience is other leaks show up soon after and pump will need to come off anyway. Why I stopped doing "patch jobs", after a few bite your backside it's not easy trying to explain to the owner why it's leaking again. I now will only reseal the complete pump, or won't touch it.

Ive never resealed an injector pump before, it dosent seem like it would be to big of a job other then getting it off. After its pulled and Ive replaced all the seals and its reinstalled is there a process to prime the pump?

Getting it off-on is the easy part. I always bench test pumps after repair to make sure the governor, transfer pump, advance, etc. all work correctly with NO leaks. Depending on how far down it's taken apart there are special tools needed also. I take them completely apart to inspect everything.
