I have a Allis Chalmers 7040 that is pumping hydraulic fluid from the transition into the rear end. Is this due to a bad seal in the stack of pumps ? Any help would be appreciated!

That is usually what it is....the shaft seal between the gerotor (transmission) pump and the steering (rear end) pump. Now, that being said, there could be serious pump bushing/bearing issues causing the seal to leak. It's been 25 years since I've replaced one of those seals and those tractors are now 25 yrs older.
