Looking at a td-62 diesel on Craigslist for sale. No Picturss of serial numbers or anything but it looks very similar to a d282. Says it needs an oil pan. I think I have a 282 oil pan from a tractor around, I?m assuming the oil pan is same between crawlers and tractors? I haven?t seen the dozer in person, its 2 hours away so I can?t get a good look at engine area, but could the oil pan be changed with the engine still in, without going thru to much hassle? Thanks

Been years but my answer is no. There is a cross bar on the dozer right under the engine. Do not think it will raise up by unbolting the front of the engine as the back bellhousing and transmission are all made together. Also am thinking the sump is different on the dozer oil pan, holds more oil for working on slopes. Just an old 76 year old mans opinion like I said been a few years since those things were around.
