Just recently purchased this Ingersoll Rand air compressor from the 40s. I'm trying to identify the engine, any help would be greatly appreciated.

what does that plate on the frame rail say?

That plate says just make sure you drain the air manifold at the end of the day.

That exhaust manifold looks like Hercules to me..

Is that an ID plate on the block behind the generator?

It does look like the IX series engine. Made in 1961.
