It's normal for the tip of the screw to show coming through the hole.
As long as it's not a broke off tip stuck in the hole!
If it backs out with the screw, all is well.
What kind of carb problem are you having?
I like to use steel brake line for fuel line. Already comes with nice double flares on the ends. It forms easily, no bender necessary unless you need really close bends. |

Its a Holley carburetor . I was going to rebuild the carburetor but it didn't look right with the needle mixture screw sticking out . |

I wouldn't expect it to be sticking out very much when adjusted correctly. Maybe someone screwed it in to far and enlarged to hole. |

Those darned Holleys!
When I get one of those I pretend I'm Tom Brady and give it my very best heave into the nearest swamp, dumpster or scrap pile.
Then I come here to YT and buy a Zenith to replace it. Expensive yes but you won't be dinking with the carb for ever afterwards.
Especially since those 3 cyl Ford gassers aren't easy to work on in there.
And your tractor will RUN! |

Ultradog, BTDT, I'll second the motion!
Those Holly (any Holly IMHO) are nothing but trouble.
Not often I let one defeat me, but those are real hard to make work.
The new Zenith was the answer. |

Funny, I also agree that the Holley carbs on Ford's, Olivers, John Deere, (trying to remember what other brands I've worked on and had to replace them??) are junk once the accelerator pump bore gets worn. It always goes like this: you can get it to idle good but won't take throttle well, or you can adjust that out of it so it will throttle up clean but won't idle smooth. We all agree they aren't much of a carb, and just to replace it with a Zenith, but there's always that one guy that will chime in and say that we're all just a bunch of idiots and those are great carbs, we just don't know what we're doing. In that case, there's a certain point of messing with something where it isn't worth the time or money saved where it's cheaper and easier to just buy a new carb that works as it should, unlike a wore out Holley carb. |

Whut steve said... I would make new lines no problem for me cuzz I can double flare them...
Holley's are a real simple carb nuttin to fix'N them other then its not your normal plug and play tractor carb that tractor folk like its more on the automotive side of carbs that a real carb man understands... |

If you ditch the Holley I would like to have it.
I have never had to replace the fuel lines on a 3000 if I did I would have made up a extra set to sell are just for stock.
Do you have the old lines... |

Hobo, the problem I have found on most
Holley's on the tractors is the brass
accelerator pump piston wearing out the
bore in the carb. I'm not gonna spend a
bunch of money fixing that when I can
still have a better carb for less money.
I'm not a parts changer, or one brand
specific for repairs, I know carbs pretty
well aside from the carbs used on JD 2
cylinders. I can make those run, but
don't know the differences between all of
their different numbers. A month ago, I
had 2 of every major brand tractor here
for repair that aren't mine. Holley's
never work good after a lot of hours.
Work good on V8 automotive engines though
where everything is replaceable. |
