Thanks for the help. I bought a book that showed most of what I needed to build the missing parts. Hopefully I will have the machine running soon.

Dunno if this will helpm but have you been to the John Deere parts site, https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/?

If you enter "Binder" in the search bar you can view or print parts catalog info for several models.

I have a deering,Ih, new idea unit was goin to restore. no longer in the plans. for sale if that would get you parts needed. yes all of those names are on the cover Sheetmetal of knotters

Are you sure it says NEW IDEA and not NEW IDEAL as New Ideal was a part of IHC but New Idea never was and they never made anything that had a knoter untill the distraus baler. Deering, McCormick and New IdeaL all were combined under the IHC corperate name and they just kept the McCormick name for their machinery.
