speaking 'bout #5 mowers...

G'morning gang,
I've scoured the manual and cannot find any actual dimensions for a "generic" #5 frame assbly..
Can any of you fine folks say whether a number five will fit in the bed of a full size pick 'em up truck?

I really don't want to haul a trailer 1000 miles unless necessary.

Is a complete unit w/ wheel, etc if that helps...

Yep, I sent one to a friend in Texas a few years ago. Loaded it in the back of a regular bed pickup. Need to tie it down good so it doesn't roam around too much as it will damage the bed.

You WILL need to remove cutter bar as without doing that you may just be overheight many places. Even where overhead clearance would be good trees along route may have lims sticking out to catch the cutter bar. Even with the mower loaded so bar is on left side of truck when bar is set on bed of truck bar will overhang left side of truck far enough it might just be hit by a passing vehical. I halued a mower once like that but not a JD and had to take the bar off because of that. And that bar sticking up like that has way too much weight to bounce around without breaking something. Just unbolt the bar from inner shoe to remove, even if you have to torch the bolts off take bar off and lay in bed of truck.
