I normally use my model B on my mower with the hydraulics but my model B now has my cultivator on it so I have to use another tractor. I'm going to use my model H and I have all the brackets to mount the mower and I am trying to use the power lift but I don't know if that can be done. If that does not work I will need to convert it to mechanical lift.

So I have 2 questions

1) Is there anybody out there that has a #5 mower hooked to a john deere model H tractor and uses the power lift cylinder from the model h to raise the cutterbar? If so how did you hook up the cylinder to lift the bar? Pictures would be great if you can post them.

2) does anybody have a foot pedal lift assembly with the adjustable rod and are willing to part with it? I would also need the hand lift lever as well.

Thank you for your help
Jason

"how did you hook up the cylinder to lift the bar"

Reviewed a couple No. 5 mower manuals, but there was no information on the Model H cable hookup.

However, there was information on the Model 40T.

Take a look at the illustration below.

There were no part numbers or descriptions for the cable, pulleys, cable clamps, etc.

These parts should be available at any reputable hardware store.

"foot pedal lift assembly with the adjustable rod"

Take a look at the illustration and descriptions below.

Note the foot control lever is designed for both the Model B and Model H.

Take a look at the photo below.

"also need the hand lift lever"

Take a look at the illustration and descriptions below.

The lever is standard equipment on the No. 5 mowers.

Hope this helps.

My uncle had a #5 on an H it had a cylinder hooked from power lift on it. I think it was a 1 way cylinder and looked like something specific to the H

That is interesting to know that somebody else had a john deere h and #5 mower with the power lift. The cylinder is a one way cylinder and is unique to the model h. It is a shorter cylinder them the standard a or b cylinders and it does have a shorter stroke. I wish you had a picture of that setup. The easiest way that I can think of to hook up the cylinder is to move the rear power trol cylinder bracket up along the frame so it is closer to accommodate the shorter cylinder but that might look kind of funny. The model h won't work with the cable lift as it does not have a rockshaft. The hand lift would work but I got to find all of the right pieces. Thank you for your responses and I appreciate the diagrams and pictures. That helps a lot. Jason
