The rear axel housings have retaining ring, retaining cup and a felt seal. They are seated about an 1.5in inside the housing. I want to send in the axel housing for powder coating. Any suggestions on how to remove retaining rings without damage? I can get new felt seals but cannot find a source for these rings, no issue getting them out damaged, but i need to save them?

I don't think they are intended to be reused, even if you could get them off undamaged.

About all you could do would be to have them made, if you knew the recommended press.

Have you talked to the powder coat shop? Possibly they can recommend how to wrap them up and leave them on.

Likely your right not intended to reuse. Going to put a felt seal into a metal old bearing race, stick that inside a pipe to simulate similar condition, powder coat and bake and see what damage we get.

Fingers cross
