Thanks for your post on the topic. Your points are well taken, and I couldn't agree more.

One comment I would have--It's unfortunate that an entire thread has to get poofed because one or two individuals decided to take it off the rails. Much good information has been lost at times due to this.
These forums are too large for one person to moderate by his or her self, especially if that person has other duties as well. Other forums I'm on have multiple moderators who can monitor things more closely and delete only the offensive comments and leave the rest. They can also move threads which are posted in the wrong forums or are off topic. They could also edit out the bad stuff if we had that capability here.
It's a little easier to enforce the rules if more than one person is doing it.
Just something to think about.

That has always been a good idea, but classic view doesn't allow it. It is a very complex set of files to manipulate. Kim writes programs to deal with it but making them available to others, means another layer of user programs to write, debug, correct when they break, develop permissions that enable others to use them etc.

That's also the reason that sifting through to save a thread is almost never worth the time it takes to do it.

Good ideas though definitely. The choice to keep classic view for people was far reaching.
