Answered an ad Sunday on Craigslist for a Case 1030. Called the guy and asked some questions about the tractor. Wanted to look at the tractor so asked where I could see the tractor. Gave me an address as 965 Bell Hollow road, which is on the east edge of Rocky Fork lake in southern Ohio. Agreed to meet at 5:00pm Tuesday night. Called on my way down and guy said he had to work till 6:00 but would call his friend to meet me there.I found the road alright, but where 965 should be was mothing but steep hills, rocks and trees. Nothing along that side of the road. Stopped at 4 different places and asked the people if they knew anyone on that road who had a Case tractor for sale and no one knew of such a thing. Decided I had been had, so came home. Tried to call him several times and he did not answer his phone. Drove 250 miles round trip for nothing. Checked Craigslist this morning and the ad was gone. Oh well I had a nice drive in some nice scenic part of Ohio I had not seen. Glad I drove the Jeep and not the truck and trailer.

P.S. Had a nice phone call from Chuck Machinist before I made the trip. Sorry Chuck, no pictures.

You also have an excellent story. Lot of value in that!! This is a new scam for me tho, and more than a little dirty if you ask me.

i think it sounds like some kind of a misunderstanding. i find that the caliber of people selling farm equiptment are usually pretty honest. now if you were buying a computer or a radio or a dirtbike you need to watch out. lol

I've advertised lots of stuff on Craigslist. I hate it when folks call up, haggle the price over the phone, then don't even show up when they say they will. I've wasted a lot of time waiting for people to show that I could have spent having myself a few barley pops by the woodburner, instead. Don't be disheartened, though, as there's still more honest folks out there than dishonest. (at least I'm optimistic there is..lol)

Joe, I don't even know his name. I asked him when I was talking to him, but he just kept talking like he didn't hear me.

Yep, thought maybe I was in the wrong county and was a Bell Hollow in another county. Did a search after I came home and that is the only one in the state of Ohio. If one could see the area that should have been this address, they would know it was not possible to be a residence. Would have to clear a path to even get a bulldozer in there.
