Hello I just bought a john Deere 4040 tractor and the seat doesn"t lock and I don"t know why it feels like the spring is there but it just doesn"t lock for some reason does anyone know why the seat wont lock?

Did you lift up on the latch,sit down and then release it?

No we are always sitting in the seat and trying to adjust it. we have a old owners manual but the part that talks about the seat is missing.

seat on tractor. Where did you find this picture? It

the seat when we first start the tractor up raises
up every time were just not exactly sure though
which seat it is we have.
