Guys, after our thanksgiving dinner today we sat down and spent a couple hours dropping a bunch of old glass slides in the projector. All of them are of the Racine tractor works, many of them showing foundry work and making crank shafts. Took a picture of the old factory sign which is one of a few in color. One showed a guy testing rods with a Rockwell tester, and the calender was dated July 1940. Someday I want to take them all in and get prints made.

That would be an interesting set of slides. I found a cheaper alternative to reformat 35 mm slides - I bought a small slide scanner at a local Staples (stationery chain store), for about $70. I scanned about 2,000 slides my dad had taken over the years and they turned out real good. It uses the same memory card as a digital camera so you can download them to your computer and print them, whatever. I priced out having a local camera shop do them and the price was way more than I could afford. It took a little time but was a good way to use up some cold winter days.
