I cant see anything that looks sloppy, but it sure is when in road gear. Any ideas??

bearings were out on the input shaft on the 45. got replacement bearings and seals from R&R Equiptment Indianola Iowa. pricy but fixed it right, turns easier now.

Check the bearing at the bottom of the spindle. Turns slow, but after 60 years of hammering on rough ground, it scallops out and allows for free play. Worse on hard surface roads.

Also check the setscrew between the spindles in the casting. The key for that is straight cut and can get sloppy over time.

Yup, it was the bottom bearing in the steering column or post.
