Quick question about hydraulic pump housings. For a x00 or x01 series machine with the piston pump, is it common for the part of the pump housing that has the two bolts that attach it to the engine block to crack? Part number on this is NCA-905. I have a good working pump, but when I went to clean it up to paint it, I noticed that two of the four ears that bolt it to the main pump housing are cracked. The "mechanic" before me must have seen it and siliconed it up. Not leaking, but obviously, it's not going to cut it for me on my restoration.

Just curious if this was a common ailment or not.

And if any of y'all have one lying around, I may be interested in buying. The rest of the pump can be junk, I don't care, just need that end housing.

Thanks,
Kevin

Yep. Smile And I just missed an NOS Ford one on eBay for $125. Sad

From what I can tell, it looks like this might be a common problem. Lots of used ones seem to find new homes. I had just never heard of that happening before.

What is really annoying is that the old "mechanic" that I bought the tractor from purposely put this pump on the tractor before I bought it. But whatever, that's water under the bridge and I just want this resto to be done.

Thanks,
Kevin

it MAY be common.. though I have not seen much mention of it.

if there is a surpluss of those housings for sale.. it's because the rest of the pump is dieing and that is the only good part left. :)

I don't have a pic of your cracked area.. but is it something that cannot ne silver soldered or brazed up and then machined down?

Yeah, I was kinda hoping to find a pump that was junk inside, but had that part of the housing still good. Otherwise, I'm buying new.

Don't have a picture, but of the four bolts that hold this (NCA-905) part to the main pump body, two ears are completely broken. I'm sure if I took it apart the ears would fall off. Regardless, I'm in way too deep on this project to not replace it. Not gonna chance it. Pay me now, or pay me later...
