It would make a great loader tractor. I think the 1030 only had 1000 PTO, factory. You can put the 540 on it with out any trouble. I would put a Dual 3100 or something like that on, but those are what are popular around here. About any of the quality loaders will work.
The 1030, factory is about 105 horse, and can be turned up quite a bit, so you are going to want a better quality loader.
Just my thinking. |

They are strong tractors and handle loaders well, But you need to know the clutch is stiff on them and on a job like loading bales they will wear out your leg! also the steering is power assist no a system that will turn while sitting with a load on it,,, just so you know

I've had a Case 70 loader on my 1030 since 1980. Loaded thousands of square and round bales and not a weld on the loader. Loaded it's share of manure also.

The heavy clutch pedal was my first though also, followed by heavy brake pedals on the manual, sometimes weak brakes. The 930 and 1030 are a great field tractors and they are a nimble yard tractor with a narrow front end. But, if I had to spend all day one as a loader tractor they would not be my first choice, it would wear me out. For occasional use it would be fine. The belt driven power steering and shift pattern would not be pluses for me.
Drive the tractor through some simulated loader cycles to see how you like it. Check the brakes and the seat too. As a loader tractor you will need to be pushing on the back of the seat. |

Had a DuAl 340 on a '68 930 8-speed since about 1983, picked and fed many a round bale - broke a couple spindles, and broke the center tube in half once. The power steering on that one was changed over to a solid tie rod and two cylinders rather than the rotary thing the factory had, might have helped the spindles along.... I actually really liked it, short, nimble, and you can shift it handy with your left hand while running the loader with your right. Have a '69 1030 sitting in the yard right now, next to a Du-Al 3000 soon to be mounted. |
