Hey guys! Got a call from my aunt about her M today. She said it will run all day just fine; put it in the shed for the night, then come back in the morning and it's puked all the antifreeze all over the floor. Any thoughts??? I can't think of why it would not leak while running. I did a bunch of work to it about 2yrs ago including a rebuilt head, new head gasket, rebuilt radiator and water pump, new radiator hoses and thermostat. No issues up until now. She is clear up in North Dakota so I can't just run over and look it over myself. Thanks for the help!

My M leaked out the side panel. It just rusted through from the inside. While replacing the panel, I took the opportunity to gently wash all the accumulated gunk from between and around the cylinders. Pretty simply replacement job.

If it is a pressurized cooling system, could be the radiator cap is a little weak and can't hold the correct pressure for the cooling system.

Block was flushed and that side cover was replaced as well when other work was done.

It will have to be determined if coolant is coming out of the overflow or some place else. Most likely water pump packing needs tightening or a shot of grease to the impeller grease fitting might stop leak. If coming out of over flow, probably combustion leak problem.

Have her look the morning after this happens at the motor/radiator area with a flashlite, should be anti freeze drops hanging from where the source is. Sounds like you are very aquainted with this tractor but her telling you there is antifreeze on the floor is a little vague. Mark

I know, that's what I told her. I just can't figure out why it would leak while sitting overnight but not while running?

Tell her to check the hoses, common for those to leak later after installing. Also a minor leak looks big in a puddle on concrete.

Also what Brian says, in addition, the overflow may escape when the engine is shut off due to no more circulation.

Said she added 3 gallons today. She was going to pull the hood today to get a better look at things. Will tell her to make sure hose clamps are tight, and give the water pump a shot of grease. Might tell her to just go ahead and replace the radiator cap too. Otherwise guess I'll have to wait and see where she thinks it's coming from.

The radiator cap is a real long shot. If it were the radiator cap the coolant would be blowing out while the tractor was running and hot. It wouldn't blow out as the tractor was cooling.

She really needs to take a close look at the tractor and figure out where it's coming from. It shouldn't be difficult.
