I would like to know if anyone has a air cleaner assembly for a '63 4000 172 diesel, they would like to sell.
Like the one in this picture.
I'm asking here first, because I'd rather give money to someone on here. I know I can buy a new one for around $50-$60. So if you have a used one, email me.

Thanks, Pat

Buy all that you can find at $50-60. They are no longer available, and if they were they would sell for $352.49, and because they tended to take a beating there is no shortage of guys looking for them. |

I got one but I wouldn't take $60 for it.

I dont know where you found a new one unless its for a gas model. They are made differently but might be made to work. I havent seen any new diesel types out there. Invest in a precleaner for it they are worth every penny, they keep a lot of dirt from getting to the oil bath. |

If you could forward me the info on the pre-cleaner you found
that is a great price. The last one I found I think the shipping
was around 40.00 and the cleaner was over 200.00. Buy it
quick before you lose that deal. |

I guess I was looking at one for a gas, or newer tractor. I didn't pay that much attention to it.
I don't have much money, and can only buy one thing at a time. I figured I'd start looking for one now. My tractor is completely apart for repair, & painting right now. So I don't need it right now, but I will need it.
Thanks, Pat |

JWA,
The first picture is a Diesel, the second is a gas.
But would it really take to modify it to work? I would have to see the gas one to what it'd take, if much. A elbow on the input, and I don't know what the exit looks like, whether it's up, or out the side.
I'll give you a call tomorrow. I have been waiting for a guy to call, so that I can go pick up a loader. I can't pass on cheap!
Thanks, Pat

Gas model model tractors used a smaller (6 volt) battery where the diesel was 12 volt. So the battery boxes are different. Everything else should fit right up - You already have the air cleaner screen in the hood.
Never really understood why Ford went to the trouble to configure a different air cleaner for the diesels? |

After looking at pictures of them on line, I don't see why I can't make a gas one work, and look good. If it won't fit under the hood, I can make the mounting plate to work the same as a diesel one, and put it outside the hood.
I have a welder, I can bend/shape steel, and paint! LOL
New gas ones go from $39.00 with free shipping, to $55.00 & on up.
Thanks, Pat |
