My 930 power steering pump squeals the belt, and nearly stalls the pump pulley when trying to steer it .works little bit better when moving but still squeals . Full of fluid and new belt.. What next ?

Power steering on 30 series tractors is always an interesting topic. I believe it was actually a ? power assist ? and not a full power steering. If the belt and pulleys on the pump are in good shape , and working as they should, I would look well beyond the pump. Go to the wheels, and work your way back, to see if there are any seized components, bad bearings/ bushings. I would start by jacking the front end off of the ground, and try to turn the wheels left and righ by hand. A lot can happen to a tractor in 50 years, things can get dried out starved for grease, or just plain worn out.

When the Comfort King tractors were new they would squeal the power steering belts any time you turned the wheels when not moving or were moving very slowly. It helped to drive them as if they had manual steering.

Tighten it up some more and make sure the pulleys are in good shape. If either is shiny in the bottom of the groove it is probably bad. Grease the spindles??

The fact that your belt squeals is a good sign in that your pump is in good shape, and both the fan belts & P/S belt need to be tight. However, you should never, ever try to turn the steering wheel when sitting still. That is good advice for your 930, or any tractor, car or truck. Turning the wheel when still puts tremendous strain on everything involved with the steering. When radial tires were 1st introduced, and broken belts were a problem, part of the problem was linked to turning the wheel while sitting still.

Check to see if your steering gear box has any gear lube in it. That's something people forget to check during maintenance.
