Don't have pics, but it only moves about an inch or so.

Mine doesn't work easily either, I put pressure on it with my foot.

Lever slides a fork which is connected to a gear back and forth on pto shaft. Sliding gear into and out of splines engages and disengages pto. Can be serviced when top transmission cover removed.

Sometimes when you pull it out it comes out past the detents and it takes hard push to get it back in. When I had my transmission cover off I put a washer in there so it could not come out to far
