Working on a 1949 Cockshutt 30. It has an Autolite generator on it. One wire is coming out of the body of the generator to the generator cut out. The generator has only one other post and the cut out has an empty terminal. I would assume this system uses a light switch with a resistor in it to control the charging rate? If not, is this the wrong generator on the tractor? Hope I explained that right.....
Thanks to all replies.

They originally had a cutout relay and two position light switch. Many have been changed to regulators as mine have been. Post a picture to be sure. I can send you a scan of the wiring if you need it.
