I am having problems with dump pedal it doesn?t engage,
thought it was the free play in the cable adjusted that. That
didn?t work. I then went underneath to be sure the pin that
goes into tranny was coming out all the way and it is. It is my
understanding that when you push the pedal the pin comes
out and allows fluid in. Does anyone have exp with this? I
don?t see anything electrical to it.

This is the Borg Warner shuttle, small little oil pan underneath, the valve you are talking about has two functions, the cable moves the valve from forward, neutral and reverse, the mechanical linkage for the dump when the foot pedal is pressed down,it moves away from the valve and the valve comes out under spring pressure, when the valve is fully in in the drive position it should have 10 thou clearance before it bottoms, use the bolt on the outer end of the valve to adjust the clearance, there is no electrics involved,to check the shuttle for oil, machine level, engine on low idle, main gearbox in fourth gear and shuttle in neutral, top up to the mark on the stick a little at a time,do not overfill.

OK let me clarify, the machine operates fine in forward or reverse. The dump pedal does not operate. if i try to shift on the fly or idle up when loading the pedal does nothing. I checked fluid as you
described and it was low. i filled it with it level and running. i let it sit for an hour and checked again. fluid was at the top mark of the stick. pedal still does nothing. any other ideas?

Have a helper in the seat,go under the machine with a strong light, get the helper to press the clutch cut out pedal (dump)while you watch the dump control valve, you should see the part of the linkage that makes contact with the valve move towards the left, the valve should follow it,when the valve comes out a certain distance the oil pressure going to engage the F/R clutch is dumped and drive is lost to the wheels, when the pedal is released the valve is pushed in and the oil pressure is restored going to the F/R clutch and drive is restored,to change gears on the move you should take your foot off the throttle, change gear, foot back on the throttle,to change from forward to reverse, foot off the throttle, stop, change direction, foot back on,loading the front bucket, drive into the dirt, press dump pedal while moving the bucket and keep the revs up with the throttle, the hand throttle is for hoe use only.

Thanks for all the replies. Here are the steps I have tried, I
lifted machine off the ground, i press in the dump pedal, the
linkage moves to the left and the pin follows it. With the pedal
still pressed in all the way the Thier is a 1/2? gap between the
linkage and the pin. I put the machine in forward and the
wheels spin still. Same happens in reverse. I tried to pull the
pin out out some more by hand and it doesn?t move so to me
the pin is all the way out. Is thier a valve inside the shuttle that
could be clogged?

That is normal, with the engine stopped check the valve adjustment when it's in the drive position, push the valve in till it bottoms, check the gap between the push lever and the adjusting bolt,it should be about 10 thou, that adjustment is to ensure drive when in the normal position,I take it your problem is that clutch cut out is not working? was it working in the past?,is there any other symptoms?.

Correct, clutch is not working. No other symptoms. I
purchased this way about a month ago. Other then this the
machine is solid. Older guy had it for his farm 2500 hours. The
thing was barely used.

Usually it's the other way about the drive been lost,I cannot remember coming across the problem, that dump valve should do exactly what it says dump the oil that is holding the respective clutch engaged, could be like you said a blocked orifice or one of the spring pins has sheared, the valve assembly can be removed,go to the link below from where you can download a manual for that Borg Warner shuttle,go to the link, register,it's free, when registered look on the top menu and click on downloads, type Borg Warner in the search box, download it and you will have all the info you will need, there may be A Borg Warner outlet near you,the Case 580C,D,E,F,G and early K had the same shuttle only difference been the clutch cutout was electric.
