My good Neighbors sprayed Round up over their Round Bales along the soybean field , this was done in early June right after the hay was made..Now, They are wondering if it will bother the hay when they feed it to cows this fall ?. Didnt know what to tell them except to say we sure had a lot of rain to wash it all off.

Well I do not think I would use the hay for any thing but land fill. But that said I also do my best to live as organic as I can and use almost no chemicals in my hay filed or garden. Dose round up cause cancer who knows but I'll not take the chance of it. Just like the military saying agent orange did not hurt our guy in Vietnam but many died from cancer that was sad to be caused by it

It appears the collection of glyphosate products have some crops tested out to 3 day or less waiting period to feed to critters after spraying, and if the particular crop isnt tested it falls back to an 8 week waiting period to feed.

So if this happened in June and they want to feed after august, they would generally be following the ethics and letter of the rules as best can be figured out.

I wouldn't be concerned. Doesn't seem to bother the deer eating my soybeans after they have been sprayed.

Years ago the chemical dealer here would drink some just to show it was safe. I can?t imagine it was tasty but he made it look like it was delightful. He died of being too old for his britches - just like the rest of us will.

If animals, and people, don't drop dead within ten minutes, it's gotta be safe, right? Wink
