I have a 1969 IH 434 tractor. When I use the shift lever, the PTO does not engage. I think I have a sheared groove pin. If I do, can
someone tell me the best way to replace? I bought a service manual for the tractor and it talked about splitting tractor to service
power takeoff driveshaft. I hope I do not have to do this. The PTO rear shaft "shifter part" is the same for IH series tractors B-272,
B-414, 354, 364, 424 444, 2424 and 2444.

I have a "424, and have "been there".

Remove the 3 bolts holding the support Key #3 to the tractor and withdraw the whole assembly to see what's going on.

It can be interesting to "finesse" the pin in lever Key #5 back into place in the shift collar, as the collar can slid backwards "out of range".

May have to look in the open mounting hole and use a log skinny tool to slide the collar FORWARD to the engage position, then install the lever assembly.
